They come and go. We can go two weeks without one and then we can get a week with nothing but dust storms. They keep planes and helos out of the sky. Everybody gets stuck where they are and nobody can go on leave. This pic was taken right after a HUGE blast of sand just hit her. It looked like a dump truck had just dumped and blew at her. We get dust devils too that would blow your mind. I have seen six at one time and they can get to the size of tornados but they just dont move as fast. Its not uncommon to see one several hundred feet high. They look like huge fires in the distance, but they are dust devils. They like to chase people. You just stand and wait them out. If you run you have a good chance of getting run down and running with it. I have some funny stories about people seemingly being singled out and chased.
